A 26-year-old woman crossing the intersection of Clark and School streets was hit by a taxi cab early this morning and is in critical condition.
The woman was hit about 12:45 a.m. and taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said. The cab was southbound on Clark when it hit the woman, police said.
The cab driver remained at the scene, she said. The department's Major Accidents Investigations unit is at investigating the crash.
Police said the woman was crossing the intersection on a diagonal. The cab driver is being held for testing, which is required after any personal injury crash involving a taxi cab, police said.
